USE OF SOLDIERS POINT MARINA

This is an arrangement made nearly 10 years ago and has been of great benefit to us since.   Please don't upset it!

On 17 January 2003 I met with Soldiers Point marina Manager Mr Darrell Barnett to discuss a number of issues relating to PSYS operations, particularly access for club yachts on race days.

Mr Barnett noted that the Marina was, first and foremost, a commercial operation and that payment was required for services provided. Patronage of Marina services and businesses was encouraged.

However, he said that neither he nor owner Mr Geoff d’Albora, had any problems with PSYS vessels using the western face of the marina (adjacent to the channel) under the normal terms of a public wharf:

1.     Berthing is subject to availability of space, with priority being given to marina tenants and paying customers.

2.     Berthing is for short term, casual use to load/unload passengers or goods. Maximum stay is one hour, unless by personal arrangement with the Marina Manager.

3.     Vessels must not be left unoccupied at any time within the hour stay

4.     If power and water is required, then a token payment (typically $5.00) shall be made at the Marina office.

5.     Normal courtesy applies - make room for other vessels and assist with line handling if required.

I think that the above arrangements should suit the majority of PSYS yacht owners and rely on your goodwill and common sense to make them work.
